This year's CASTELIERS was an intense 5 days of puppet performance and events in the most beautiful of cities, Montreal. Too enthralled to remember to take photos... or maybe having too much fun!

Workshop Description
This one-day workshop will introduce participants to one of the traditional craft methods of mold making, which has been used for centuries to produce marionettes, hand puppets, masks etc. This valuable technology should be in every puppet builder's portfolio.

Workshop Description
In this workshop participants, over four days, will construct a "muppet" style hand puppet of their own design using techniques of foam carving and covering with fabric such as fur or fleece. Concepts of three-dimensional sculptural form will be taught in creating the form; stitching techniques for hiding seams in a variety of coverings; modelling and painting features such as noses, eyes, etc.

In this workshop participants, over four days, will construct a tabletop puppet using polymer and air-dry clays. As in the marionette workshop, concepts of three-dimensional sculptural form and the fundamentals of painting will be taught in order to bring each character to life. Puppet dressing and basic manipulation will also be covered.

JUNE 2015

The Intensive is an exciting, vigorous, hands-on, 12-day training program in the art of puppet theatre. It is designed to introduce participants to all of the basics of puppetry from manipulation and construction to design and performance creation. Our registration is open to puppeteers, artists, teachers, writers, performers, designers, dancers, or anyone interested in integrating puppetry into their creative practice.

The Master Class Series is a selection of 3-day workshops that focus on specific, advanced techniques. The workshops are designed for people already have a background in puppetry and are interested in developing further skills and techniques in a particular area of study. These three-day workshops will provide the student with advanced techniques and methods in small groups, as well as studio time to hone skills under the guidance of a professional puppeteer. If you have already taken our Intensive workshop you qualify for our discounted tuition rate for the Master Class Series.

All workshops are taught by some of the best professional puppetry artists in North America, in our outstanding facilities, in small groups focused on your ability and interests.
